My siblings and friend took some photos the other day - if you like, check them out at my sisters' blogs here and here (more or less the same photos :))
I recently saw Frozen the cinema in Feilding. This is SUCH a COOL movie! (No pun and some pun intended.)
The film is full of action, humour, and INCREDIBLE music! The songs and music are so neat!
Okay, so I'm going to try a slightly different approach to this review: since this is a new movie, I don't want to give too much away.
Anna is the main character. She is the princess of Arendelle, daughter of the king and queen who die in a shipwreck. She is probably my favourite Disney heroines (if they can be called "heroines"). She is fun, kind, humorous and slightly naive. She is a very like-able character. Being naive is her weakpoint; because she has been locked up in the castle all her life (ever since she was 5 (see picture)) .
She doesn't know a lot about the world. Not in an extreme way, like Rapunzel in Tangled, just that she's been isolated for a long, long time.
She is brave on the impulse of the moment and loves her sister very much.
"Mmm, chocolate!"
Elsa is Anna's older sister who was born with a magical but dangerous power that allows her to "conduct" ice from her fingers. When the
girls are little, Elsa is playing with her "ice" and she accidentally strikes Anna on the head, making her unconscious. Anna is healed, but if it had struck Anna's heart, she would have died. So Elsa is kept inside her room all the time, and she has to try to control her powers. But, Elsa's powers are getting stronger as she grows older. Eventually, on the day she is old enough to be crowned queen, the power is so strong she has to try very hard to control it.
On the day of the coronation, Anna is ecstatic that she is finally "released" to the world. She falls in love for the first time, and sings "Love is an Open Door", one of my favourite songs (which is a pity ;) But I don't want to give any spoilers).
Yes, there's a horse. And he is a little bit like Maximus from "Tangled", but has a very minor part.
When Elsa gets upset at the Coronation party, she accidentally reveals her powers in front of everyone.
She flees from the kingdom, thinking she can live alone and hide.
The people of Arendelle are scared of Elsa, and some set out after her to chain her up, thinking she is a danger and a monster.
At the same time, Anna sets out to bring her sister back. On the way she meets lonely, awkward, but dashing Kristoff
his reindeer Sven
and the lovable snowman, Olaf
Helped by her new friends, Anna sets off to find her sister and discover the truth....with a few twists.
Let's just say people aren't always what they seem ;).
This movie has adventure, (a little romance), excitement and humour (mostly provided by Olaf).
The biggest news of this week.......................
Our Church, The Reformed Church of Palmerston North, have just recently had their new building completed! The work on the existing building started about this time last year, and we have been worshiping in the school hall across the road since then. In October we are tying the opening of the new building in with the 60th birthday celebrations of the church!
Catechism classes are in the new building on Tuesday night, and Church there on Sunday (hopefully). The entire building is so - flash, amazing, it's just super!
I simply cannot wait till Sunday!
Before I go, I must give you my apologies for my absence of late, and the shortness of this post.
Next time (hopefully) I shall bring you a movie review on a surprise film =)
Hello again! Sorry I haven't posted in such a long time! IT IS SCHOOL HOLIDAYS!!!!! Monday we had swimming and band practice (we expect to be played for the Feilding Music Society in May) Tuesday was Catechism break-up with supper (lollies, chips, more lollies) Wednesday night little brother Thomas broke his arm when he fell on his hard floor in his bedroom. Dad and I took him to A&E at the Hospital at 5:30pm, saw the doctor @ 9:30 pm, x-ray was over by 10:10pm, and waited til 1:00am for the cast, went home, and Dad took Thomas back later that morning. Got it casted and everything in 2-3 hours. Needless to say, I got very little sleep that night. Thursday was nothing much; catching up on sleep ;-) Friday we picked apples and made apple crumble Saturday made apple sauce Sunday, Church Monday, more apple sauce and a prospective visit to the Library - stock up on books and movies for the School Holidays! Have a great week, love,
Firstly the music. Okay, it is an old movie, right, so the music is old (make that ancient). The actual tune of the music is quite cool though, just a bit tinny. Thing is, you sometimes have music when you don't really need it, and not when you could really do with it.
Then there's the filming/photography. Basically this was okay, nothing special, but the scenery was amazing, the real place!
As for the acting.....old actors tend to be ....well, maybe it's just me, but they just seem a bit weird, just a little too life-like. Which reminds me, the storyline is incredibly close to the book - almost too close; except for on thing: they removed one character, and added another. The added character, as I mentioned in part one, was Hildy, and the character they removed was Howard McLaughlin. Ken's brother Howard was the typical older brother, always teasing him about his low grades, and his day-dreaming, AND he has a colt of his own, Highboy, which annoys Ken most of all.
I like the opening credits though; the names on pages of a book that were turned.
The stunts are good too, you don't have stunties to ride the horses, which adds to the authenticty of the film; you don't have to avoid showing both horse and rider at the same time.
I would reccomend the movie for any age, and the book for 10 years and up, except it has bad language, which is not put into the movie.
Overall I would give My Friend Flicka a 6/10 for quality, and 8/10 for authenticity.
Last week Bethany and I spent some time at the National Cadet & Calvinette Camp 2012, at Forest Lakes, Otaki, in the North Island of New Zealand.
Just before camp, before we left, I was given a Swivel. A swivel is a digital camera. It has a lot of very cool features on it. You can edit your photos and videos on the camera, or even before you've taken them!
The videos are silent, and not the best quality, but they're okay.
Camp was real fun overall
(apart from spraining my ankle & a little homesickness, it was fine - really)
I can NOT wait to go to the next one in 2015 in Christchurch!
an amateur (this is actually someone who does it for the love of it, not a beginner) movie filmer, a Jane Austen reader, and younger kids who love playing dressups.....
Yes, Christmas is getting is getting closer, and with Christmas comes activities, breakups, and...
CONCERTS!!! The Feilding Youth Band EOY(end of year) concert is less than one week away!!!!!!
I cannot believe it - the year has flown by so fast! Then there's next year; we'll most likely be in the actual band, I'll start Catechism, and , of course, there's National camp and my birthday ;-D.
